Murray County Historical Museum

The history of Murray County is on display in the Murray County Historical Museum with its exhibits, programs and objects, archival, microfilm, and photographic collections.  The Reference Library and Family History Section are open to members and researchers.  Included in this section are family files, plat books, an index to the 1898 county plat map, partial cemetery listings, and various county, city, and church history books.

The museum has a collection of over 10,000 artifacts on display, including local history artifacts organized into topical displays, military objects from the Civil War through World War II, microfilms of county newspapers, census and naturalization records, and numerous photographs which document the county's heritage.  The museum staff provides group tours, research assistance, and historical presentations.

The museum hosts special exhibits and open houses several times each year, with a Christmas festival in December.
