New Exhibit Opened August 13!
To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the start of the Great War, the museum opened a new exhibit that tells the stories of the experiences of both the area's soldiers and the families back home, from Flander's field to the fields of Murray County. This exhibit will feature artifacts and memorabilia from the county's war veterans, items and stories from the home front where everyone was asked to do their part to help the "Boy's over there." A hands of history corner will give visitors an opportunity to try on a vintage metal flack helmet and try their hand at wrapping their legs with puttees.
A list of all World War One veterans from the county will be available for family research.
Summer 2014: "Tours with Tea"
The Murray County Historical Society would like to invite groups, clubs, organizations, neighbors and friends to their "Tours with Tea” at the historic Dinehart-Holt House in Slayton. This event will be held throughout the summer months during regular business hours.
This year we are offering tea or lemonade and treat for $5/person, of course along with a tour of the house.
We would appreciate that you give us one week notice with the number in your party. Come and enjoy an afternoon out at our historic house!
