Summer 2013: "Tours with Tea" will be offered again!!

The Murray County Historical Society would like to invite groups, clubs, organizations, neighbors and friends to their "Tours with Tea” at the historic Dinehart-Holt House in Slayton. This event will be held throughout the summer months during regular business hours and no tours on Wednesday.

This year we are offering two different options with a light luncheon style of tea or lemonade, salad, cracker and sweet treat for $7/person or just tea or lemonade and treat for $5/person, of course along with a tour of the house (or, if you prefer, to just leisurely roam around the house).

We would appreciate that you give us one week notice with the number in your party. Come and enjoy an afternoon out at our historic house!

August 2013: Murray County Fair - All buildings open extra hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

This is a wonderful time to tour the Murray County Museum, Sierk Building, Wornson Log Cabin, and the Dinehart-Holt House.  We're conveniently located near the fairgrounds, where all of the action is.  Bring the whole family!

October 22 - 31: Haunted Museum

The Murray County Historical Museum will once again be haunted during the Halloween season. Plans are in the making for a Haunted Hallway and other favorites from last year. Come see our many "spooktacular" displays.

The museum will be open for visitors who dare to venture in from October 24 until October 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we will be open for tricks and treats on Halloween day until 7:30 p.m. We will also be open for the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

Come and see our haunted museum – if you dare ~ we’ll be waiting for you!

December: Parade of Trees - Museum

This year's Parade of Trees Open House will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 1:00 until 4:00.
Check out all the trees at the Murray County Historical Society's annual parade of trees being held each December.   The museum is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local community organizations and school children decorate various trees throughout the museum for the season.  Vote for your favorite by placing your loose change in the jar next to your preferred tree.

The Dinehart-Holt House is also decorated for the season and will be open for viewing Mondays and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. through the month of December.

Celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way!
